Ecumenical Food

Rodney King asked, “Can’t we all get along?” Good question. Two nights ago, we went to our son’s school’s International Dinner. The idea was, you bring a dish, you can eat other people’s dishes. A potluck on a very large scale. After loading my plate with delicious stuff, I found myself focusing on two dishes that were next to each other on the plate: pork fried rice and haroseth with horseradish. It turns out that this is a delicious combination, which I take as a portent that there is, in fact, a future for human relations.

Perhaps if we start at the mouth and move north to the brain and south to the heart, we’ll do ok after all.
